When planning a bathroom remodeling project you should first consider a few new space saving and storage ideas, many of which are possible for most do-it-yourself types. You can come up with solutions to handle the problems of inadequate shelving, clutter, lighting, and little wall space.

You could buy an antique bath cabinet, or a bamboo storage cabinet. There a louvered door cabinets available. You could even try to find a stylish period piece side cabinet with drawers. This type of cabinets can often come with a decorative mirror as well as an inset washbasin. They also have many drawers for storing bathroom items like toothpaste, guest soaps and washcloths.

If you have a larger bathroom you could use shelving to create a side closet that would also have cabinets, and drawers. This would provide you with a place to store bathrobes and towels.

To create more storage space especially in smaller bathrooms you could put up shelves and cabinets that can fit over the back of your toilet. Or you could buy a bath storage tower. This will give you extra cabinet space and extra storage shelves.

Other areas of your bathroom where you can add storage include the back of doors, and shelves racks and towel bars added to walls. By making use of these areas of your bathroom you can create more space and store towels, washcloths, and other items. Wall shelves are good when it comes to storing towels, washcloths, and toiletries.

There are many wall-mounted solutions. You can even find some hinged storage boxes that can be wall-mounted. Wall-mounted storage shelves can serve as a great space saver keep your counters looking neater. Wall-mounted towel holders keep towels orderly and at the ready.

You can even create a border of shelves in the empty space around your bathroom ceiling. This will create more space to the other potential storage areas in the bathroom.

Another overlooked idea is the bathroom medicine cabinet. Far from being such an outdated storage idea they can really help in creating more storage space and be fashionable as well. You can install a medicine cabinet on a wall or it can be used to replace large mirrored walls. The medicine cabinet great when it comes to providing an eye-level storage area. You can even design a medicine cabinet that is over-sized, as opposed to the typical small size cabinet.
